Art in Public Places 

As a part of a vibrant art community, The Town of San Anselmo recognizes the vast amount of talent in the Ross Valley area and invites artists to get involved in enhaning the Town! One very visible way to encourage artistic expression is through the town's Art in Public Places Program.  This program is designed to both enrich the community through public access to significant and diverse pieces of art, and to increase visibility of local artists via direct contact with residents in the creation and installation of the artwork.

Viewing and Interacting with Public Art

 The town hall lawn is home to a beloved San Anselmo resident an a beautiful piece of sculpture.  The white tailed Deer is a familiar friend to children and familes who walk through our downtown area, and is a lovely reminder of the abundance of wildlife we are blessed with in our community.

The beautiful obelisk graces the front lawn of the San Anselmo Fire Station, and provides a colorful history of the Ross Valley community, taking visitors back in time to see the progression of our Town's history.  This piece was created in 2004 with community involvement all the way - children and local residents contributed time in the coloring of the mosaic tiles, and in the installation of the 6' tall obelisk.  A Park bench sits nearby, with engraved bricks of those who have contributed to the funding of this piece of art.
